Cryopreserved PBMC

Imagine the convenience of using a virtually unlimited number of PBMC aliquots, all from a single bleed.

Imagine having immediate access to a large library of precharacterized PBMC samples with established HLA types and antigen reactivities.

Imagine the assurance of knowing that your sample has tested negative for dangerous viruses.

CTL's frozen PBMC samples are the ideal solution. They're worry-free and hassle-free.

The thawed cells display over 95% viability thanks to CTL's revolutionary cryopreservation techniques. In addition, when tested for peptide or protein antigen-induced T cell recall responses in cytokine ELISPOT assays, the frequencies and per cell cytokine productivities of the thawed cells are easily comparable to those of fresh PBMC samples. Working with PBMCs has never been more convenient or more accurate!

CTL has built up a comprehensive library of donors characterized for:

  • HLA-type low/high resolution for three Class I and four Class II loci
  • Cytokine responses to 24 Class II individual CEF peptides, 32 Class I individual CEF-peptides, two Class I CEF peptide pools, one Class II CEF-peptide pool, and six protein-antigens
  • Demographics: Age, Gender, Ethnicity
  • Blood type (ABO and Rh Group/Type)
  • Vaccination status for Vaccinia, TB, and Hepatitis B

CTL PBMC samples are tested in the following screening systems and found to be negative:

  • HIV 1/2 Antibody
  • HTLV I/II Antibody
  • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen
  • HCV Antibody
  • Hepatitis B Core Antibody
  • Serologic Test for Syphilis
  • NAT HIV/HCV
  • NAT WNV

Ready access to PBMC samples from the same donor and the same bleed can facilitate human immunological research and assay standardization within laboratories and between different laboratories.

Characterized Cryopreserved PBMC

Advantages of Characterized Cryopreserved PBMC:

• No regulatory permits needed to obtain human PBMC

• Cells are no longer a limiting factor in experimental design. Obtain up to 10 billion cells from the same donor and same bleed date

• Eliminates unpredictable, cumbersome search to obtain PBMCs from volunteers

• Immediate access to a library of PBMC that are pre-characterized, with established HLA-types and antigen reactivities

• Circumvents the necessity of obtaining bureaucratic, time consuming governmental permits regarding privacy

• Multiple sites can use identical samples simultaneously enabling unprecedented comparability of data

• Facilitation of controlled studies by selecting donors with certain HLA-type, gender, ethnicity, and/or immune reactivity

• Expedited experimentation: thawing cells is faster and cheaper than isolating them–even more if several donors are needed
